A name of a movie that i made a special trip to see today, of course i did not regret it for a second.
As you might know already, i am interested in palestinian politics and i am a member of the PSC (palestinian solidarity campaign). The story was about one specific family and the events that they went through.
This movie is absolutley astonishing, fantastically honest and OF COURSE nerve wrecking! i did not cry (although i was prepared to) but i surely teared.
Obviously today i was the only arab in the theatre so i am the only one who did not read the subtitles ;), but i peaked @ them @ some points because i wanted to see how accurate is the translation of the dialogues.
The direction was done by MOHAMMED BAKRI but the production is purely italian.
Pls check online reviews for more details, it is one amazing piece of work.

shakla el film 7elo .. wala im really intrested , o weddi ashoof el film el 9ara7a :)
" but i peaked @ them @ some points because i wanted to see how accurate is the translation of the dialogues." : ya i sometimes do this :P when im watching aflam ma9reya abya`6 o aswad emtarjemma 3ala qanat el Nile :Pp ..
LOL, but my point was to make sure that words were not manipulated with "for political reasons" not because i wanted to see if the translation was good :)
nice to see kuwaitis up for the palestinian cause,, not so common these days:)
I my self dont follow palestinian politics
o pretty much gave up on any short term solutions
we need this ummah to know its religion then something real can happen
Does it contain historical parts ... or is it about the current status?
will be looking forward for its release here in the US.
one point though, the attitude of such people like you q8ibloger is the reason why we will never a peaceful agreement.
Q8i bloger: i think we are old enough now to realise where should we and where should not we stand in terms of principles, it is black and white, not grey.
And there is nothing more heart-breaking than seeing atheists for example concerned about Jersusalem rather than us the arabs (specially that al quds is oola el qeblatayn wa thaleth al 7aramayn al sharefayn)
TF : no nothing historical in it in fact nothing documental about it either at all, it is purely a true story about the events in the life of literally one family that tried their best to stay in their house even after being occupied by israeli soldiers..
I dont wanna burn the movie for others because it is simply Fantastic, but it delivers an honest message about how the members of one family can disagree in extremely difficult situations.
Hibba: i heard it was in london all last month actually, you wont find it in VUE or ODEON, you need to look for a local cinema or student cinema.
Too bad it is showing only once in my city and people from Leeds and Hull yesterday made special trips to see it.
Jameed same goes to you, look out for it in non-blockbuster cinemas because i understood yesterday that it is contracted to be shown in local cinemas ONLY because thet worry it may not generate profit..
It is really good i cannot get over it.
about what Q8ibloger said, i think everyone sees the solution coming from different prospectives. i am not sure that he meant muslims only because Jerusalem belongs to both Christians and Muslims alike! i think he meant that the solution is to hold on to our beliefs and stop the corruption that is eating us from the inside!
May Allah bless you:)
just to clarify for now and for future reference, I never speak from a religious point of view, whether muslim, christian, hindu, jewish or whatever. i don't identify myself with any religious sect. but i believe that sticking religion in every political conflict will never solve that conflict. anyway, everyone is entitled to her/his opinion, as long as it does not affect me ;-)
PS London in 2 days!!
Shopa and Hibba: are you gonna see it together?
Jameed: Its quite cold and raining here so beware, i sincerely hope you catch a showing in london, as Hibba said, check Baker Street cinema :)
Hibba : BLESS, you are so sweet, if i were in london i would go with you everywhere :)
I am going to arrive Kings Cross on monday at 12:40 pm
i have 2 hours to wander around cos @ 2:45 pm i gotta set off to "i will tell you later" somewhere..
Hope we can have a quick coffee meanwhile??
Exceer great review. I really want to see this movie but I can't find it playing anywhere here in L.A. (Hmmmmmm I wonder why). Anyway - nice blog.
Janjoon, thanxxx a bunch :)
Jameed is in the USA too and yeah it seems you guys did not get it yet.. it was showing in europe a year ago, now it is in the UK so maybe you guys are next ;)
You're Arab? Where from? Im partially Arabic too =)
Exceer- have you seen "Death in Gaza"? It's a great film.
Hi shaima: i am from kuwait, Welcome here..
Janjoon: no i have not seen it, how old is it? our cinema is not contracted to get arabic produced movies :(
Exceer- It is an amazingly powerful film. You might be able to get it on DVD, but if not you can try to watch it on HBO in August (if you get HBO). The movie ends when the director is shot dead by Israeli militants. Watch the preview on the website. I found the link for you, here it is:
